Pathway into Schools and Care Settings (including wrap around care) Level 1
The Wrap Around Care Assistant course is the perfect starting point for those eager to explore a career in Schools and Education. This programme will provide you with a foundation introduction into the work that is involved as a wrap around care assistant, the variety of roles,responsibilities and the daily skills and knowledge you need for these types of jobs..

You'll gain valuable insights into managing social situations, behaviour, reporting and recording and why this is important.

What will I learn?
By the end of the learning programme you should be able to-

● Explain what wrap-around care assistant jobs there are available, their roles and responsibilities.
● Describe how to manage behaviour and establish social skills and opportunities of play.
● Be able to use Communication skills to record and report key information to the teams round you.
● Understand why Health and Safety is important and how to apply it.
● Understand what Safeguarding is, why it is important and use what is called the 5 R’s.

The course is continuously assessed by your tutor. They will use a variety of assessment methods such as written assignments, professional discussions, case studies to demonstrate your knowledge and understanding. You will also complete portfolios in English and Employability.

You will need to attend a skills assessment before you can enrol. You do not need any formal qualifications however, you will need to be able to use both written and spoken English to at least Entry Level 3 standard.You will also need basic Digital Skills, this is essential to be able to successfully participate in online sessions as you will be required to work on online platforms such as Google Classroom and Moodle. Learners may be offered additional English, Maths and digital support where appropriate

You will be expected to be punctual and attend 100% of this course. Please do not book holidays in term time and let us know of any planned absences before you start the course. If you do not attend for 2 consecutive sessions, without prior notice you may be withdrawn, and this will reduce your chances of joining another course in the future. Learners may complete an Emotional Health and Wellbeing survey to help us identify and support these needs appropriately. We use a mixture of classroom based and online learning for classwork and homework.

You will need a notepad and pen for your first session and your tutor will advise you on further materials if needed (Please do not purchase any materials before the first session).
Yes. There are various ways to support your learning, subject to your individual circumstance and type of programme, please ask your tutor or the centre staff for more information on the following:

• Laptop, Loan and Learn scheme
• Homework Club
• Additional support within the classroom

Upon successful completion of this course (including the English component), learners may be able to progress onto: •Level 1 Award Safeguarding in a learning environment •Level 1 Get Ready to Work in Schools

•Level 2 Support Work in Schools and Colleges
•Level 2 Managing Challenging Behaviour

The completion of this course could lead to work opportunities or progression opportunities, dependent on employer requirements and relevant experience. Progression onto a Level 2 course would enhance your opportunities. Teaching Assistant £15,504 to £18,204
Learning Support Assistant £18,835
Higher Level teaching Assistant £19,500 to £21,000
(Can be pro rata due to the role being term time only)

You may also choose to become a course representative for your class. Course Representatives can then stand for election onto our Learner Council

To ensure that our learners can communicate with each other safely we offer a variety of functions in Google suite. We strongly discourage the use of other social media groups such as Whatsapp, which rely on personal data being shared.
