Become an Early Years Practitioner Level 2
The Early Years Practitioner Level 2 Diploma qualification is ideal for learners who are looking to work with children between birth and 5 years and gain knowledge of working with children up to 7 years. You will also complete Employability skills at Level 1 this will support you to become more job ready.Throughout the programme you will reflect on your practice to be able to demonstrate all of what you learn. You will also need to ensure that you allow sufficient time for self-study and complete any homework set, we would recommend 3 – 4 hours per week as a minimum.

By the end of the programme, you should be able to

•Be able to explain the role and responsibilities of an Early Years Practitioner.
• Demonstrate skills of working in partnership with others.
• Apply policy and procedures of Safeguarding for the welfare of babies and young children.
• Carry out care routines, deliver activities and promote play safely.
• Prepare children to transition from early years settings and become school ready.
• Promote positive behaviour, physical activity and provide SEN support.
• Learn about Equality, diversity and inclusive practice in early years settings.

The course is continuously assessed by your tutor. They will use a variety of assessment methods such as workplace observation, written assignments, professional discussions, case studies and question and answer sessions to demonstrate your knowledge and understanding. You will also complete portfolio of Employability skills.

You will need to attend a skills assessment before you can enrol. You do not need any formal qualifications however, you will need to be able to use both written and spoken English to at least Level 1 standard.You will also need basic Digital Skills, this is essential to be able to successfully participate in online sessions as you will be required to work on online platforms such as Google Classroom and Moodle. Learners may be offered additional English, Maths and digital support where appropriate.You MUST have a DBS (Disclosure and Barring Service check) and be working or volunteer in a practical Early Years placement with 0-5 year olds for a minimum of 8 hours per week for the duration of the course.There will also be some assessments carried out within your placement too at times and dates mutally agreed.

• You will be expected to be punctual and attend 100% of this course. Please do not book holidays in term time and let us know of any planned absences before you start the course. If you do not attend for 2 consecutive sessions, without prior notice you may be withdrawn, and this will reduce your chances of joining another course in the future.

• Learners may complete an Emotional Health and Wellbeing survey to help us identify and support these needs appropriately.

• We use a mixture of classroom based and online learning for classwork and homework.

You will need a note pad and pen for your first session and your tutor will advise you on further materials if needed (Please do not purchase any materials before the first session).
Yes. There are various ways to support your learning, subject to your individual circumstance and type of programme, please ask your tutor or the centre staff for more information on the following:

Upon successful completion of this course (including the English component), learners may be able to progress onto •L3 Diploma Early Years Educator
•L3 Certificate Supporting Teaching and Learning
•L2 Certificate Safeguarding & Prevent
•L2 Certificate Understanding Autism
•L2 Certificate Understanding Adverse Childhood Experiences (depending on their English skills)

The completion of this course could lead to work opportunities or progression opportunities, dependent on employer requirements and relevant experience. Progression onto a higher-Level course would enhance your opportunities. Salary ranges in Childcare sectors
•Early Years Practitioner £23.052 to per annum £24,219
•Play Worker £26,618 (can be pro rata if school based)
•Early Years Room Leader £24,000-£26,000 per annum

• You may also choose to become a course representative for your class. Course Representatives can then stand for election onto our Learner Council

• To ensure that our learners can communicate with each other safely we offer a variety of functions in Google suite. We strongly discourage the use of other social media groups such as Whatsapp, which rely on personal data being shared.
