Intro to Floristry Level 1
This programme is designed to start you on a pathway in floristry, to begin your professional portfolio and enhance your creative skills. You will learn basic floristry skills, with the added bonus of increasing your English, Maths and Employability skills along the way.
You will construct a wide variety of basic designs and industry techniques to enable you to construct a wide range of seasonal designs. This will provide you with your first steps into the beautiful world of Floristry and participation in the wider industry.
Upon successful completion of this programme you will achieve a NCFE Level 1 Award in Creative Craft (Floristry) and NCFE Employability Entry 3 Award.
Health and safety will be embedded in the course.

By the end of the course, you should be able to -
• Produce a variety of arrangements, using the Elements and Principles of design
• Cost designs for sale.
• Develop employability skills by completing the Mindset booklet
• Evaluate each floral design

Progress of your learning will be assessed through -
• Practical observation.
* Portfolio of work

You will record your progress through your Individual Learning Plan (ILP) and your tutor will provide you with ongoing feedback to support you.

No experience is required. Assessment for applicants is based on interest and ambition. Literacy and numeracy is considered through the completion of an online skills assessment. Please allow up to 2 hours for this to take place.

• You will be expected to be punctual and attend 100% of this course. Please do not book holidays in term time and let us know of any planned absences before you start the course. If you do not attend for 2 consecutive sessions, without prior notice you may be withdrawn, and this will reduce your chances of joining another course in the future.

• Learners may complete an Emotional Health and Wellbeing survey to help us identify and support these needs appropriately.

• We use a mixture of classroom based and online learning for classwork and homework.

On the first session, please bring a strong pair of scissors or secateurs if you have them, note pad/pen and £15 to cover the cost of the flowers.

A full/part time/freelance trainee position. You may also want to start thinking about developing your social media presence to raise your profile or the start thinking about your own business.

You can give your views through your ILP, course evaluation forms, surveys and our 3Compliments, Comments and Complaints forms which can be found in Centre offices.

You may also choose to become a course representative for your class. Course Representatives can then stand for election onto our Learner Council
