Flower Arranging: The glory of the Summer Garden
This summer flower arranging course is designed for all abilities . Each week you will create a different design and develop your creative skills; whilst investgating ways of growing your own flowers and foliage suitable for flower arranging and keeping costs to a minimum. The tutor is a Local and national area Demonstrator, is well known in flower arranging circles and has many years’ experience in entering competition work and teaching.Health and safety will be embedded in the course.

At the end of the course, you should be able to
● Identify seasonal flowers and foliage .
● Investigate correct conditioning techniques of seasonal plant materials and what to grow at home
● Plan, prepare and create a variety designs sourcing materials for free from the local area or your own garden.
● Display creations of work correctly.

• Practical observation.
• Completion of Individual Learning Plans

No formal qualifications are necessary, just a keen interest in flowers and a bit of creative flair.

• You will be expected to be punctual and attend 100% of this course. Please do not book holidays in term time and let us know of any planned absences before you start the course. If you do not attend for 2 consecutive sessions, without prior notice you may be withdrawn, and this will reduce your chances of joining another course in the future.

• Learners may complete an Emotional Health and Wellbeing survey to help us identify and support these needs appropriately.

• We use a mixture of classroom based and online learning for classwork and homework.

On the first session you will need to bring floristry scissors and £15 to cover the cost of the flowers For the following sessions you will need to bring your own plant material and sundries. Please expect to pay between £5 and £20 a week on flowers at wholesale prices. This, of course will depend on your individual taste and access to foliage. Also bring a note book, pen and camera (Phone).
Yes. There are various ways to support your learning, subject to your individual circumstance and type of programme, please ask your tutor or the centre staff for more information on the following:
• Additional funding to pay for resources.
• Laptop, Loan and Learn scheme
• Homework Club
• Additional support within the classroom

There are several routes with which you can take. The horizontal path onto any Flower Arranging class or workshop. We also offer several Level 1 and Level 2 qualifications in Floristry and Horticulture.

You may also choose to become a course representative for your class. Course Representatives can then stand for election onto our Learner Council
