10DIY Wedding Flowers! / Upcycling and Flower Arranging
91.02This course is for all abilities, to build knowledge, enhance your creative and employability skills and add to your portfolio. Whether you are starting your journey, developing your skills, re affirming prior knowledge or looking for creative inspiration, join us for a fun and instructive course. This course will cover the basic practical skills required to create a variety of wedding designs. You will use seasonal foliage, flowers and accessories to create your designs and take home to enjoy on the run up to wedding season. The materials are here for you when you arrive at the cost of £15 per session, paid weekly at reception.
Health and safety will be embedded in the session.

Open What will I learn?

At the end of the course you should be able to –
• Identify seasonal flowers and foliage
• Demonstrate correct conditioning techniques of seasonal plant materials.
• Plan, prepare and create a variety of wedding designs.
• Display creations of work correctly.

• Practical observation.

Open What experience or qualifications do I need to start this course?

No formal qualifications are necessary, just a keen interest in flowers and a bit of creative flair.

Open Important Information

• You will be expected to be punctual and attend 100% of this course. Please do not book holidays in term time and let us know of any planned absences before you start the course. If you do not attend for 2 consecutive sessions, without prior notice you may be withdrawn, and this will reduce your chances of joining another course in the future.

• Learners may complete an Emotional Health and Wellbeing survey to help us identify and support these needs appropriately.

• We use a mixture of classroom based and online learning for classwork and homework.

Open Is there anything I need to bring? Are there any other costs?

On the first session, please bring a strong pair of scissors or secateurs if you have them, note pad/pen and £15 to cover the cost of the flowers.

Open Can I get extra help?

Yes. There are various ways to support your learning, subject to your individual circumstance and type of programme, please ask your tutor or the centre staff for more information on the following:
• Additional funding to pay for resources.
• Laptop, Loan and Learn scheme
• Homework Club
• Additional support within the classroom

Open After the course….

There are several routes with which you can take. The horizontal path onto any Flower Arranging class or workshop. We also offer several Level 1 and Level 2 qualifications in Floristry and Horticulture.
