Spanish Proficiency- Stage 2
This course builds upon your substantial previous language experience to further develop and refine your proficiency and fluency.

You will cover a range of topics and current affairs; including political events, news, llocal and regional issues, health and wellbeing, allowing you to communicate in the language with confidence.

Open What will I learn?

By the end of the course you should be able to:
• Understand almost everything you hear and report back on what you have heard, including in familiar specialised contexts
• Communicate with ease in both formal and informal situations, using a wide range and variety of language appropriately
•Understand, interpret and report back on almost everything you read, including texts in familiar specialised contexts
• Produce texts for a range of purposes using a sophisticated range and variety of structures

Open How will I be assessed?

Your tutor will assess your learning and progress throughout the course through ongoing observation, question and answer, tasks and exercises and your tutor will provide you with ongoing feedback to support you.

You will record your progress on your Individual Learning Plan (ILP), including reflecting on your wellbeing and personal goals.

Open What experience or qualifications do I need to start this course?

This course builds upon our Spanish Proficience - Stage 1 course. You should have completed at least 325 hours of study before enrolling on this course.

Open Important Information

• You will be expected to be punctual and attend 100% of this course. Please do not book holidays in term time and let us know of any planned absences before you start the course. If you do not attend for 2 consecutive sessions, without prior notice you may be withdrawn, and this will reduce your chances of joining another course in the future.

• Learners may complete an Emotional Health and Wellbeing survey to help us identify and support these needs appropriately.

• We use a mixture of classroom based and online learning for classwork and homework.

Open Is there anything I need to bring? Are there any other costs?

Pen, paper and an A4 ring binder. Cost Involved: £20-£30 for a course book/CD which you will be advised of at the first session. Please do not purchase any items before the first session.

Open Can I get extra help?

Yes. There are various ways to support your learning, subject to your individual circumstance and type of programme, please ask your tutor or the centre staff for more information on the following:
• Additional funding to pay for resources.
• Laptop, Loan and Learn scheme
• Homework Club
• Additional support within the classroom

You could progress to:
• Further courses with another provider
• Volunteering with Learn Hillingdon or another community organisation
• Forming your own language club
• Attending a local established language club

Languages are a fantastic employability skill, developing your skills further may enhance your CV and improve your employment prospects. This the course will also support you to develop transferrable employability skills including communication, team-working and time-management skills.

Open How will I be able to give my views on the course?

• You can give your views through your ILP, course evaluation forms, surveys and our Compliments, Comments and Complaints forms which can be found in Centre offices.
• You may also choose to become a course representative for your class. Course Representatives can then stand for election onto our Learner Council

• We want you to enjoy your learning experience and feel safe, equal and respected while you are here with us. If you have any concerns, please report it to a member of staff or directly to a Designated Safeguarding Officer as soon as possible.

• To ensure that our learners can communicate with each other safely we offer a variety of functions in Google suite. We strongly discourage the use of other social media groups such as Whatsapp, which rely on personal data being shared.
