Digital for Work: Brush Up your Digital Skills
In the modern workplace employees need good digital skills. With the evolution in technology over the past few years it's common to feel a bit rusty if you haven't used a particular type of program for a while. This non-qualification course is designed to help you to refresh your digital skills and improve your confidence in using common IT applications for the workplace.
You will rediscover word processing, spreadsheets and presentation software, so that whether you are looking for work, want to improve your productivity or want to change career, you have the skills employers are looking for.

By the end of the course you should be able to:
• Create a word processed document suitable for a professional context
• Input, process and format data using spreadsheet software
• Create, edit and format text and other media using presentation software
• Present information in an appropriate layout based on audience and purpose

You will record your progress through your Individual Learning Plan (ILP) and your tutor will provide you with ongoing feedback to support you.

No formal qualifications are required to enrol on this course. This course is designed to update your skills, so you should have:
• a reasonable level of English in order to understand the topics covered in this course
• some experience of using a computer. You should be able to use a keyboard and mouse to navigate a computer and access information.

•You will be expected to be punctual and attend 100% of this course. Please do not book holidays in term time and let us know of any planned absences before you start the course. If you do not attend for 2 consecutive sessions, without prior notice you may be withdrawn, and this will reduce your chances of joining another course in the future.

•Learners may complete an Emotional Health and Wellbeing survey to help us identify and support these needs appropriately.

•We use a mixture of classroom based and online learning for classwork and homework.

Yes. There are various ways to support your learning, subject to your individual circumstance and type of programme, please ask your tutor or the centre staff for more information on the following:

After completing this course you could progress to:
• Digital for Work: Online Job Searching and Applications
• an Essential Digital Skills for Work programme (skills assessment required)
• volunteering with Learn Hillingdon Adult Community Education or another community organisation.

Your tutor will be able to provide you with information about the most appropriate next steps for you.

This course is designed to improve digital skills for employment and could form part of your pathway to develop your digital skills for work.

• You can give your views through your ILP, course evaluation forms, surveys and our Compliments, Comments and Complaints forms which can be found in Centre offices.
• You may also choose to become a course representative for your class. Course Representatives can then stand for election onto our Learner Council

• We want you to enjoy your learning experience and feel safe, equal and respected while you are here with us. If you have any concerns, please report it to a member of staff or directly to a Designated Safeguarding Officer as soon as possible.

• To ensure that our learners can communicate with each other safely we offer a variety of functions in Google suite. We strongly discourage the use of other social media groups such as Whatsapp, which rely on personal data being shared.
