Beginners Floristry Award L1
The intent of this course is for those who have completed BKSB online English, Maths and IT Initial assessments, to build knowledge, enhance your creative and employability skills and start your professional portfolio. A programme for beginners resulting in a Level 1 Award in Creative Craft (Floristry).
Candidates are shown a variety of basic skills and techniques to enable them to construct a simple range of designs, providing first steps into the world of Floristry.
This course also includes an additional Award in Employability Skills; this accredited qualification offers generic and transferable skills needed for employment such as teamwork, communication and problem-solving. The qualification is designed to enable learners either to progress directly into employment or into learning at a higher level as part of a progression pathway.

At the end of the course, you will be able to -
● Understand the basic underpinning knowledge of floristry and basic craft skills.
● Adhere to health and safety requirements in the workshop.
● Identify a variety of flowers and foliage.
● Demonstrate correct conditioning techniques of plant materials.
● Plan, prepare and create a variety of floristry designs.
● Produce a portfolio of work of photographic and written evidence, which will all be submitted online. (Full training will be given)
● Cost designs for sale.
● Demonstrate employability skills.

Attendance and punctuality are vital to your progress and success in your learning. Therefore, you are expected to be punctual and attend 100% of this course. You will also need to be able to submit assignments by the deadlines set by your tutor, which you will complete outside of the weekly class time. All classes are asked to complete the Emotional Health and Wellbeing survey at the beginning and end of their course. This enables us to see whether learning has a positive impact on wellbeing and it also enables us to identify and help people who need support.
