Digital Photography intermediate
The intent of this course is to explore techniques for creating better photographs and approach a range of different subjects more creatively.
This course is for learners who have already completed a beginners’ course in Digital Photography, and want a hands-on opportunity to improve their picture taking skills using a Digital SLR or compact camera.
Topics covered will include composition, metering, exposure, use of flash, use of lenses, bracketing, start using manual controls and some digital editing techniques. You will be encouraged to critically analyse your photographs and practice outside of class time.

At the end of the course you should be able to:
- Correctly use a digital SLR or compact camera with some manual advanced camera controls
- Identify and apply creative composition techniques
- Apply digital editing techniques
- Produce a small portfolio of 6 to 10 photographs.

Your tutor will assess your learning and progress throughout the course through ongoing observation, question and answer, tasks and exercises.
You will record your progress on your Individual Learning Plan (ILP) and your tutor will provide you with ongoing feedback to support you.

This course is not suitable for complete beginners; you will have ideally completed the Digital Photography Beginners course and/or have some knowledge of Aperture and Shutter Speed controls.
Good knowledge of opening and saving files on the computer and familiarity with the mouse and keyboard is essential.
This course is suitable for DSLR users. Learners who have compact cameras are welcomed to the course, but be aware that a compact digital camera may have limited functions.
