Get Started with Dance: Dance from around the world
The intent of this course is to introduce you to a range of dance styles from around the world. Dance is a important aspect of many cultures around the world and brings people together, as well as being a fun form of exercise, supporting your physical and mental health. Each week of the course will focus on a different dance style and you will learn some short routines and sequences of steps to different rhythms and music.

By the end of the course you should be able to:
- Follow a warm up/limbering routine safely
- Follow tutor-led sequences to a range of rhythms
- Identify different styles of dance and their origins

Your tutor will assess your learning and progress throughout the course through ongoing observation, question and answer, tasks and exercises. Your progress will be recorded on your Individual Learning Plan (ILP) and your tutor will provide you with ongoing feedback to support you.

Complete beginners welcome, no experience required.

You will be asked to complete a medical questionnaire at the first class. All details are confidential. If you have a medical condition you should talk to your doctor before enrolling on the course.

You should wear lightweight loose fitting clothing, trainers or jazz shoes (if you have them) or low heeled soft shoes with straps.

You may also choose to become a course representative for your class, which your tutor will discuss with the class at the start of your course.

You can apply online, over the telephone, by post or you are welcome to come into a centre to enrol and speak to one of our members of staff.
You will be able to pay by cash, card or cheque (made payable to London Borough of Hillingdon). Please note – the course will only go ahead subject to sufficient enrolments.
