Gardening Workshop: Terraniums
The intent of this course is to increase your knowledge, build on your creative and employability skills and enhance your professional portfolio. A fun and instructive one-day course for those wishing to extend on their knowledge of constructing a terrarium using a selection of indoor plants. All materials are supplied – just come with your workbox and a bite to eat.
Please note: All learners are expected to attend 100% of their course and arrive 15 minutes before their class starts.

The intention of this course is that you should be able to demonstrate a knowledge of:-
• Adhere to health and safety requirements in the workshop.
● Identify a variety of plants and growing media.
● Demonstrate correct conditioning techniques of plant materials.
• Plan, prepare and construct a terrarium using traditional techniques, with a modern twist.

Progress of your work will be assessed throughout the course by your tutor and LSA (if appropriate) via observations. Your progress will be recorded on individual learning plans (ILPs) and tutorials with your tutor.

No formal qualifications or experience are necessary, just a keen interest in gardening.

Please note – the course will only go ahead subject to sufficient enrolments. You will be expected to attend every session, please let us know of any planned absences before you start the course.

Please bring along a pair of floristry scissors, secateurs and gardening gloves if you have them and any decorative bits you might want to add to your designs. You will also need to bring your own refreshments as there is nowhere on site to purchase these. All foliage and sundries are included in the cost of this workshop. You are advised not to purchase any materials or books until after the first session, as in the event of the class not running, no compensation can be given for expenditure incurred.

On the completion of this course, there are several routes with which you can take. The horizontal path onto Gardening for Beginners. We also offer Level 1 Awards in Occupational Studies (Horticulture). Please ensure you are on our mailing list to receive the most up to date information on courses. There are no specific job opportunities, however this will enhance your practical skills and could improve your employability skills such as working as part of a team and communication skills.
