Floristry: Entry 3 Award (Creative Craft)
The intent of this course is for those who have completed BKSB online English, Maths and IT Initial assessments, to build knowledge, enhance your creative and employability skills and start your professional portfolio. A programme for beginners resulting in an Entry 3 Award in Creative Craft (Floristry).
Candidates are shown a variety of basic skills and techniques to enable them to construct a simple range of designs, providing first steps into the world of Floristry.
The qualification is designed to enable learners to progress into learning at a higher level as part of a progression pathway.

You are expected to be punctual and attend 100% of this course. English, Maths and Digital Skills will be embedded in the course.
All classes are asked to complete the Emotional Health and Wellbeing survey at the beginning and end of their course. This enables us to see whether learning has a positive impact on wellbeing and it also enables us to identify and help people who need support.
Please note: All learners are expected to attend 100% of their course and arrive 15 minutes before their class starts. If you do not attend for 3 consecutive weeks, you may be withdrawn. This will also reduce your chances of joining another course in the future.
You will also need to ensure that you allow sufficient time for self-study and complete any homework set, we would recommend 2 – 3 hours per week.

At the end of the course, you will have learnt to -
● Understand the basic underpinning knowledge of floristry and basic craft skills.
● Adhere to health and safety requirements in the workshop.
● Identify a selection of seasonal flowers and foliage.
● Demonstrate correct conditioning techniques of plant materials.
● Plan, prepare and create a variety of floristry designs.
● Produce a portfolio of work of photographic and written evidence
● Cost designs for sale.

Progress of your learning will be assessed through -
• Practical assessment and observation.
• A portfolio of photographic and supporting evidence of your work.

Sufficient experience is required. Assessment for applicants is based on an interview exploring prior experience, interest and ambition. Literacy and numeracy is also considered with the completion of an on-line initial assessment. Please allow up to 2 hours for this to take place.

Due to the recent COVID-19 outbreak, we are working under new social distancing guidance and we will be introducing blended learning. This is a way of learning remotely without being in regular face-to-face contact with your tutor in a classroom setting. You will be using online and video platforms to help you to achieve this. Your tutor will work closely with you to complete your qualification.

Please bring a pen and notebook to the first session. You will need a floristry workbox and folders to hold your work, but please do not purchase any items before the first session.*The cost of flowers for your course is £15 per week, which you pay weekly at reception. If you are on a means tested benefit you will only have to pay for flowers if you choose to take them home, this choice must be made at the start of the lesson. All payment receipts to be given to your Tutor to be recorded.
